Exchange work for room and board or perform volunteer jobs. When you travel, it has become a way of learning and naturally giving what you can do with your own hands or offering the knowledge you have as professionals to those who need it. This is how under the thought of give, many of the students of nueva lenguaThey have come to live unique experiences in such a way that their trips have acquired a great value and a beautiful place in their memories.

This is the case of Joshua Hsu, who tells us about his volunteer experience in Latin America in recent years and the importance of Spanish in these social work processes.

For him, the Spanish It has been the key that has led him to share not only his time to help but also to connect with the locals with whom he has had contact, because understanding what they think, what their perspective is in the face of the different situations they are going through, immersing themselves in everyday life, day-to-day customs and personal stories have been decisive factors in their social work. This experience in which he has participated is based on work with Guatemalan indigenous communities, which do not have access to quality health services and turn to international aid services to obtain free and dignified treatment. Although Joshua does not have a degree in the field of medicine, his work has focused on being an interpreter for the responsible doctors, who give the indications and processes of medical procedures, with the inhabitants of said communities, which makes his learning of the language be one of the most important tools in the process of accompanying and developing the program.

Just like him, you too can develop these social work activities in Nueva Lengua, because we have various projects for you to be part of our team of volunteers, and so you can learn, help with one of the children and grandparents with whom we work, and thus build a beautiful memory of your experience in Colombia.
