Medellín: the best place to learn Spanish

With nearly three million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, this city that extends through a deep mountain valley offers a pleasant temperate climate, which is why it has been called "The capital of the mountain" and "The city of the Eternal Spring".

Medellín is vibrant, vital and in full swing; In addition, it has an intense commercial, industrial, cultural and sports activity. This warm city is the ideal place to go shopping with an infinite variety of national and imported merchandise. It also has a network of clinics and research centers of world-renowned quality.

It is worth mentioning that touring Medellín on foot is a real pleasure, since being a medium-sized city, the places of greatest interest are located very close to each other and are easily connected by its integrated transportation system and by the subway.

Some palaces, train stations, cathedrals, villas and public buildings still preserve the republican architecture of the "Belle Époque". Alongside it, new architectural concepts also emerged, such as the Metropolitan Theater, the José María Córdoba airport and the Intelligent Building of the Public Companies of Medellín.

As a cultural attraction we find the Museum of Antioquia, which has one of the most complete samples of oil paintings by the famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero, who also donated to the city his most impressive collection of sculptures located outdoors in the Cuidad Botero park. Likewise, the Pedro Nel Gómez house-museum exhibits more than a thousand works by this painter who captured the traditions of his town. The Museums of Modern Art and El Castillo also offer interesting collections.

Medellín is a city of varied festive activity. Every year, in August, it is the venue for the famous Las Flores fair, which has a spectacular parade of peasants who carry on their backs immense works made entirely of flowers of different colors, sizes, and species. From January to February there is a bullfighting season. Between April and May an international orchid exhibition and in August a world-renowned exhibition of fine horses.
