April 22 in Nueva Lengua Bogota, we celebrate the Language’s day. This is a special day that colombians celebrate in honour of our native language Spanish. This day was born when the president Alfonso Lopéz set in order with the law 707 the remembering of a special personality Miguel de Cervantes Savedra who provided to universal literature the book Don Quijote de la Mancha. With this work he changed the typical topics in that age and he added sense to the spanish language that from this particular moment has been more recognized.

We started with colombian nacional hymn, each time we put it it’s because we have an special event. Then the teachers and people working in Nueva Lengua made a cheerful presentation dancing a typical colombian rythm called cumbia. With colorfull dresses and long skirts they singed a happy song called ‘Colombia tierra querida’ by Lucho Bermudez with enthusiasm and beautiful voices. After that, our students performed with different skecth, presentations about cultural aspects, acting poems, playing instruments and we also played a famous game called Telephone or Chinesse Whispers, and we had a lot of fun! Thanks to this special day we can appreciate more our beautiful native language and share this love with our students. In top of that our students, that comes from different part of the world, can enjoy not only the study of the language but also our culture and enreach themselves.
