Bogotá Museum – Where is it? What to see there? Bogotá is a place where we can find fragments of the memory of a people conquered, liberated and reformed by the actions of its citizens. However, we must observe in great detail where these fragments are or can be found. We often hear that, in the streets, in traditional architecture or in the stories of our ancestors, small memorable fractions are hidden; however, also We can find them in specific places, such as museums.

In Bogotá, capital of Colombia, there is a wide variety of museums that you can visit during your trip through the big city. Some, like the National Museum or the Gold Museum, keep those fragments from the pre-Columbian era (memories of our indigenous ancestors) and the conquest of the Spanish. Others contain the era of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, such as the Costume Museum, the Weapons Museum and, which I am going to talk to you about today, the Bogotá Museum.

This museum is located in the historic center of the city, on Calle 10 with Carrera 4, near the Botero Museum and the Weapons Museum. It has 3 parts, The House of the Seven Balconies, where you can appreciate the Baroque architecture (inspired by the European architecture of Italy, Spain and France).

The second part is the Casa Sámano, a traditional colonial house (with balconies, gardens and a large internal patio) with two floors, where you can find rooms with unique themes of the capital, such as the room on the aqueduct system of the city from pre-Columbian times to the present, where the treatment of water sources is evident.

There are also two somewhat notable rooms, the cinema room and the revolution room. The first room tells of the trajectory of the seventh art produced in Colombia, the different theaters that were built in the city for all types of audiences (children, adults or "elite") and the genre of these productions (romantic, comic, tragic and/or based on the literature of the time). But, the most curious thing is that it has a projection room for some pieces of these productions compiled by filmmakers or film chains.

The second room tells the story of the struggle for greater equality and equity of resources by the community of women, university students, professionals and indigenous groups (La minga). You can find objects used as a protest and a large mural made of cloth, woven and embroidered by different Colombians, with messages on them. demanding a change.

The last part of this great museum is located about 30 minutes from the historic center, Museum of the Self-Constructed City, located in the Ciudad Bolívar sector. This section of the museum is recommended to visit with a tour guide from the Museum of Bogotá.
