Romantic and social dates are special moments in which two people can get to know each other better, share experiences and create meaningful connections, and language plays a fundamental role in communication between people who are in this type of context. Now, we will talk about a series of expressions in Spanish that can help you function better in this type of encounter. From compliments to phrases to keep the conversation going, these expressions will help you create a pleasant and unforgettable atmosphere: 

Compliments: A good starting point on a date is to give sincere compliments. Here are some expressions you can use to flatter your date: 

  • "You have a lovely smile." – Praising your companion's smile is an effective way to break the ice and make them feel special. 
  • “You look stunning tonight.” – Acknowledging the effort you have put into her appearance is a kind gesture that does not go unnoticed. 
  • “You're really smart and interesting.” – Highlighting intellectual qualities can be a great compliment, especially if you are having an interesting conversation. 
  • “You are very churro/ churra”: it is a Colombian compliment to say that someone is very handsome. 

Open questions: A fluid conversation is essential on a date. Using open-ended questions encourages communication and shows your interest. Here are some examples: 

  • “What are you passionate about in life?” – This question allows your date to share their interests and dreams. 
  • “What is your favorite place to travel?” – You can discover their travel preferences and experiences.

Romantic Expressions: If you feel a special connection, expressing your feelings in a romantic way can be an important step. Some romantic expressions in Spanish include: 

  • “Being swallowed”- Refers to the strong feeling you have towards a person, it is similar to saying that you are in love. 
  • “Be assfucked”- It is very similar to the previous one, in Colombia this expression is used to refer to a person who is supremely in love with another.  
  • “Be good or good”- Another Colombian expression that you can use to flirt or to talk to friends, you can use it to say that someone is very attractive.  
  • “Caerle someone” – An expression that refers to wanting to conquer someone who catches your attention, who you like. 
  • “Arrunchar(se)” or an “arrunchis”-An expression and a verb at the same time, in Colombia it is used when you want to snuggle or lie down with your partner in a very romantic, close way. 

Cultural Praise: Showing interest in your date's culture is a respectful and attentive gesture. Some expressions include: 

  • “I love your accent” – Complimenting your date's pronunciation or accent can be an unexpected compliment. 
  •  “What is your favorite food or music from your country?” – This question demonstrates your genuine interest in their cultural heritage. 
  • “I would like to learn more about your culture” – Appreciating and respecting their culture can create an environment of understanding and respect. 

Farewell: The farewell is just as important as the greeting. Some elegant ways to say goodbye are: 

  • “It has been a pleasure spending time with you.” – Show your gratitude for the date. 
  • "Hope to see you again soon." – Leave open the possibility of future meetings. 
  • "Have a beautiful night." – End the date with a sincere wish.
