The knowledge, ideas, traditions and customs that characterize a country, a time or a society is what can define a culture; This is of interest to many and if the country has everything to acquire that new culture and part of it is added to learn another language…. It would be perfect! No?
Today I will tell you about the experience and impact that our dear student had on the Cartagenera culture. kimo george who lives in Canada.
It all started with the strong desire to know a new place where you could have the perfect combination of sun, breeze and sea, but above all because of its people and language and our great friend Kimo chose Cartagena.
En Cartagena he found what he was looking for, he was captivated by its similarity with his homeland Trinidad and Tobago, he enjoyed his days here to the fullest, living with the people was what he loved the most; living the experience of a native like riding a motorcycle taxi, using public transport, being in contact with everyday life fascinated him and from there his love for the city was born. Without omitting that he also had the opportunity to learn Spanish in Nueva LenguaHe says that he chose this school for the ease of scheduling his classes, schedules and the stay. Also, his excellent teaching methods with professional teachers and where he was also able to meet people from other cultures and share with them activities such as independence festivals.
Kimo admires how the people of the city try to make a living selling things in the streets, the young and old dancing at night in the historic center, in addition to the warmth that people always have, responding in a friendly way and with a smile. ; He also saw how the neighbors support each other and are not complete strangers as can be presented in some places.
He learned that in life the material is not the most important thing, seeing the smile of those Colombians who could not have everything but did not need anything to be happy, he could really experience to tell how things are and being a student of Political science where he had already heard and read many stories about Colombia can say based on what he has lived, on what he has heard by the opinion of Colombians that what is sometimes said or thought about the country is not true and that everything is not like they paint it.
Kimo is grateful for everything he has learned and I say it in this time because he has not come only once and assures to return soon, his heart is in this city as well as in La Boquilla, that coastal town that opened the doors and welcomed him as one more son, where without hesitation he gave his heart and for whom he voluntarily worked.
The Mouthpiece It is a land of fishermen, beautiful mangroves and white sand just 15 minutes from Cartagena.
The impact that this town generated in him was immense because of the great resemblance to his city San Vicente, things like the animals in the streets, the happy children playing freely in them transported him and he felt at home, he immediately fell in love with the place and enjoyed its great acceptance by the community; Sharing with them special dates, rumbas, fishing trips and even taking care of him was something great that will always be present in his heart, words are cut short to express the impact he had on his immersion in the city.
Now he is very fluent in the Spanish language, without a doubt slang, idiom and idiomatic expressions were his favorite lessons.
Come to Nueva lengua so that you have the opportunity to learn Spanish and experience something to tell about it!
