Do you want to visit Bogota? Don't know where to go? Are you looking for somewhere to hang out? Have you checked many pages? Still can't decide? It is normal to ask yourself these types of questions in a big city and with so many things to do. Maybe the problem is that you don't know what to do. Today we will propose a very interesting activity. Have you been to Monserrate? Monserrate is a hill located in the city of Bogotá. It is found in the hills
east of the city. Its fame is due to the fact that a church is located on the top of this hill, which makes it a tourist site par excellence.

Monserrate stands out for three things: first, it is a place where Bogotans usually go to profess their Catholic faith. Second, it is an excellent viewpoint from which you can see the entire city of Bogotá. The view at sunset or at night are excellent. Third, it is a place where you can go sightseeing, take photos, eat in a nice restaurant, drink canelazo or buy souvenirs. The name of Monserrate comes from the Virgen Morena de Monserrat whose sanctuary is located in Barcelona, Spain. It was named in honor of this virgin and its antiquity dates from the year 1640. It is considered a traditional place of religious pilgrimage due to the fact that on its summit there is a sanctuary that houses the statue of the Fallen Lord of Monserrate, who according to the devotees performs miracles.

To get to Monserrate there are three ways: funicular, cable car or pedestrian path. The funicular will take you to the top of the hill in no time, being the fastest ascent method because it is located at the foot of the mountain. In the brief moments that you are riding the cable car you can take photos or make videos of the ascent while you see the beautiful view of the city of Bogotá. Regarding the cable car, it is a good option to get to Monserrate. It has the advantage that you can better appreciate the city while you go up suspended in the air. However, the best experience, but difficult at the same time, is to go up the trail. To be able to climb the trail you must be in good physical condition as much as possible or at least walk slowly and drink plenty of water. Go at your own pace, don't try to climb fast. The beauty of going along the trail is being able to appreciate the surrounding nature, the structure of the road and the beautiful view of the city.
Did you know that this path is used a lot during Holy Week in the city of Bogotá? Many parishioners climb this trail to get to the church during Holy Week. Did you know it's a volcano? Don't worry, it's not active. Did you know that the statue in the church performs miracles? Devotees say so. Did you know that it is a place where many birds live? At least 80 species between hummingbirds and migratory birds have this place as home. There are many things to know about Monserrate. Do you dare to visit him?
