Our students enjoyed the Walk tour through the colorful streets of downtown Cartagena and the Getsemaní neighborhood, where our school is located Nueva Lengua-Cartagena.

The first point of the route is the Plaza de los Mártires. Martyr in Spanish, it is a person who suffers or dies for defending their religion. There, on February 24, 1826, the Spanish Pablo Morillo executed the 9 most recognized leaders of Cartagena

The second place we visited with our students was Trinidad square. This square was founded in 1643, in this year the church of the Holy Trinity It was built, for this reason the square has the same name.

The next point on the tour was the Sierpe street. The origin of the name of this street dates back to 1608. In that year the mayor of Cartagena, whose name was Antonio de Viloria, discovered that a giant snake crawled down this street every night and emitted a really loud sound due to its bells.

At present this street in the center of Cartagena is one of the spots in the city where graffiti artists paint their best works.

The street where it is located Nueva Lengua-Cartagena is in the neighborhood called Getsemaní. One of the characteristics of this street are the multicolored buildings and its colonial architecture.

Then the tour stopped at the point of Clock Tower. This monument is the gateway to the city of Cartagena and also one of the most representative symbols or emblems of the city. It was built during the XNUMXth century and in front of the tower is the statue of Pedro de Heredia, founder of Cartagena.

On our tour there was a guide, an expert in the historical information of Cartagena, who described in detail all the sites we visited with our students.
