One of the best ways to get to know the city of Medellín is to explore it on foot. There are many routes and paths, depending on the interests of each person, but one of our favorites at school Nueva Lengua It is the tour through the center.

This time, together with four of our students, we started the walk in the Parque de las Luces, the place where the Plaza de Cisneros was previously located. It consists of 300 light poles, which during the day are a curious architectural attraction, and at night they light up to give life to the city in a unique and beautiful way. In this same area we find the EPM library, with a spectacular pyramid-shaped design representing knowledge.

Around this area are also the Vásquez and Carré buildings, the old railway station and many passages where citizens can go to do all kinds of shopping.

Walking along Carabobo street towards the north we find a shopping center with palace architecture, where, on the first three floors, We find clothing stores or restaurants. On the fourth and fifth floors we can appreciate different art galleries.

Further north we find the Iglesia de la Veracruz, one of the most representative temples of the city, Cuya construction began in 1682.

And finally, we went to Plaza Botero, where the Museum of Antioquia and the Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture are located. In this we find some of the sculptures of the Artist Fernando Botero, who made a rich donation to his hometown.

In the Palace of Culture, we can see the historical archive of Antioquia, music library, library and finally a terrace with panoramic views of the city overlooking the renowned Coltejer building or the Nutibara hotel.

The number of places of interest, heritage sites and artistic centers that can be discovered by walking a few streets, just a few meters away, is impressive, right? This is precisely part of the charm of Medellín: a metropolis in which modernity and history, artistic culture and industrial and technological development are combined, in a harmony that can only be offered by what has been called the most innovative city in the world

At school Nueva Lengua We are proud to be able to show our students all the richness of Medellín, through immersive experiences and cultural activities that will give them all the tools to learn Spanish in context.
