Nueva Lengua offers students the opportunity to visit the House of Memory museum with one of the school teachers.

This visit is free and perfectly supervised by one of the teachers who explains in detail the painful history that the Colombian population experienced during the guerrilla years.

This museum was built to pay homage to the victims of the conflict in Colombia.

The museum is set on three levels and houses a temporary exhibition, a permanent exhibition, and a study center.

The first part of the visit to the permanent exhibition takes place in a large room dedicated to the memories of violence. There are several photos that recall the history of the conflict, many testimonies of victims and also an artistic part in homage to the victims.

Therefore, you will be able to listen to audio testimonies that recount traumatic experiences of war, many victims have been marked by acts of inhuman violence.

These testimonies will allow you to better understand the history of the different guerrillas from the FARC (peasant self-defense force) to the M-19, you will also be able to understand how drug traffickers and paramilitaries took advantage of this crisis.

Fortunately, Colombia and the city of Medellin have changed a lot today! This sad past is now behind us. The second part of the museum thus offers a door towards hope with a bright space, open to the outside.

This way you will be able to verify during your stay in Colombia that the country has very varied faces, both culturally and geographically. Being marked by the smile, kindness and hospitality of its inhabitants.
