One of the most symbolic tourist attractions of a place when we visit it are its museums. They are places full of culture, through which we can learn about the history, customs, idiosyncrasies and singularities that distinguish this place from the others we know.

Therefore, in Nueva Lengua Bogota we have as one of our main cultural activities of language immersion visiting museums, which we will talk about today.

The capital of Columbia

Bogotá is a city of more than 1.500 square kilometers and some 8 million inhabitants, who come from different regions and contribute to the population diversity that resides here, so we can affirm that there is much to tell in the capital of the country.

One of the most representative cultural centers of the city is La Candelaria, the historic center of Bogotá where you will find places like the Plaza de Bolívar, the Palace of Justice and the Chorro de Quevedo. Likewise, there are also many different activities to do such as gastronomic tours, graffiti, religion and one of our favorites: the museum tour.

Museums of the historic center of Bogotá

We start with the Botero museum, where we find the works of this Colombian artist of international stature, who has had multiple recognitions for his eAvant-garde style that renews the perspective of many everyday situations such as a family lunch or a fruit still life and the country's most historical events, from a…visually generous perspective. There, we find one of the collections of amost valuable art in the country, donated by Fernando Botero himself from his personal collection to contribute to the access to culture for all, especially students and ordinary people, since this is a free-entry museum where Bogotanos and nuOur visitors have the opportunity to see unique and diverse works in one place, highlighting among them works by Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso or Claude Monet.

Attached to Botero museum, we found the Muse of Art Miguel Urrutia, where I alson we have access to diverse works from costumbrismo to avant-garde, but now, in Colombian art. As well as the Casa de la Moneda Museum, where the history of the economy in Colombia is revealed, from the barter of agricultural products, lFrom the appearance of the first materialized symbols of the concept of money, to the banknotes used today. In total, an unmissable plan!

Going down towards the Plaza de Bolívar, we have exactly the Museum of Independence: House of the VaseA beautiful 400-year-old colonial house where the history of the independence of Colombia is preserved, its heroes, main actors and the important elements that are part of said history, such as traditional objects from the different eras of the countrys and historical documents. In addition to the vase of independence, because a vase was crucial in the independence of the country, if you don't believe us, visit the museum!

A little further to the east, we will find the Muse of Bogota, a unique place that collects the historyhistory of Bogotá, the neighborhoods of the city, its means of transport, environmental projects and artistic bets. The tour is impressive for its diversity and details. If you are a lover of local history and sub-stories that are hidden in the ggreat cities, it is the perfect place for you.

Towards Avenida Jiménez, you will find the emblematic Gold Museum, whose name honors it by having an invaluable collection of pieces in gold and precious metals dating from pre-Hispanic times, through of which the customs and ways of life of the indigenous people have been reconstructed before the arrival of the Spanish, thus becoming a Colombian cultural heritage of current and future generations.

Finally, we are talking about a museum that is not exactly in La Candelaria but very close: the National Museum, located in the international center of Bogotá, is a museum that was previously a prison, it was also in the center of the city and is the oldest museum in the city, with 200 years of history. There, as its name indicates, the history of the country is collected in aspects of art, culture, social changes and even a small meteorite that at some point fell in Colombia.
