This is an expression used not only in Spanish but also in other languages with other types of literal translations, but I am going to explain to our friends on the blog who may not know what it is about.
Intercultural attraction is one of the most frequent things when you travel, get to know other cultures, other latitudes and find that more than 10.000 km away there is a person who has similar tastes, similar thoughts and that although not everything is exact they complement each other and they reinforce each other. When these last three occur we can say that we have found our half orange.
That other half was the one that one of our students found; Meerah Gill who traveled from Australia at the end of 2016 to Colombia motivated to learn Spanish to know the country and its culture. At first it was not easy with Spanish, Meerah confesses, but after giving her best effort she managed it and liked it so much that she decided to stay longer in Colombia to practice, with the good luck that she found a job as an English teacher. A year later during the December celebrations at a party he met Miguel a Colombian boy who had a great impact on her and from there began a friendship that a short time later became a beautiful relationship, clearly each of them had found their better half in Medellín and they became inseparable, we are very happy for the two of them and more now The wedding bells ring We wish Meerah Gill and Miguel Olaya the best in this new adventure of life.
Clearly Meerah's goal was not to come find her better half, but that's how it happened and we have many stories that as teachers, friends of our students have a happy ending. I think I know of more than 10 cases that have occurred with students from the Nueva Lengua School, some of them have even visited us afterwards to say hello and introduce us to their family. We invite you to Colombia to learn our language, the dance, the gastronomy, our beaches, all the biodiversity that we have and why not maybe you will find your better half if you have not found it yet.
