Discuss music in Medellin is to take a sound trip around the world. On a weekend you can hear African drums, alongside Scottish bagpipes, accompanied by violins and voices in many languages. You can be a static traveler just by spending a couple of hours in Parque Lleras or Carrera 70. Not to mention the city's cultural festivals, such as the FERIA DE LAS FLORES, or the TANGO FESTIVAL, to mention a few examples.
Dance goes hand in hand with music, and in Nueva Lengua we are aware of this need to communicate, not only with words, but also with the body. Between salsa, bachata and reggaeton we are weaving friendships, illusions and hopes. In addition, the world becomes smaller because by sharing our cultures we understand each other more from differences, therefore we become more tolerant.
The students of Nueva Lengua they connect with music from the classes, where they are offered various topics through listening strategies. Each teacher provides their students with the origins and development of musical currents. This is always complemented by a dance class organized by the school.
Medellín is the home of several representatives of the music scene, for example in El Poblado, near the school is the house of J. Balvin. Other representatives such as Maluma or Karol G. are also part of the music scene. Medellín is a musical scene for all tastes. It has a jazz festival, Afro cultural park, concerts and folkloric shows in different parts of the year.
Medellín is a musical house to which all cultures are invited to participate. It is important to understand that all artistic expressions are taken very seriously in Medellín, and that when we want to appreciate music we do it with great passion. It is the same with dancing, it should be a show of respect for your partner as well, because when we are going to dance, we are going to dance.
