When you need inspiration or motivation to do what you are passionate about and that this is an instrument to meet people and demonstrate talent, you choose the best scenario, right? And what better setting than the streets and square of our popular neighborhood Gethsemane in the city of Cartagena, a neighborhood where every day you have something to do and many people to meet, full of the charm of its local people and the kindness and curiosity of its visitors; Getsemaní is a very striking neighborhood with many colors everywhere, where walking through its streets becomes a unique experience and you can feel the daily life of its inhabitants, neighbors chatting at the doors, the corners full of young people and musical performances in its square. ; quite an attraction for tourists. It is in these scenarios where you have the opportunity to share what you are passionate about with others, as in the case of Erik Nijdam.

Erik is a Dutchman who for 5 years has come to Cartagena to do various things that he is passionate about: one of them is study spanish in Nueva Lengua Since his classes are with a small group of students in addition to his excellent teachers, also as the city is very touristy, he has the opportunity to meet different people from various parts of the world and thus take advantage of and practice other languages, but how do you speak with others ?, one of the ways of relating is through his guitar, the perfect excuse to share, he says "My guitar is like a dog, if you travel alone people say ahhh .. that man is alone but when I go with my dog I am not hahaha".

Erik finds in music a way to express himself, distract himself and share this passion with others, he has had the opportunity to meet many people playing his guitar outside his hotel located in the neighborhood Gethsemane, in the street or to one side of the Trinity Church.

Erik is a charming man and he has had the privilege of living the Cartagena culture several times, which he likes for its friendly people, its streets and history and because it has created very strong ties of friendship.

How do I start this adventure? Erik says that “everything started in a class in Cuba, I was with several classmates and one of them was a little sad, so the teacher asked him why are you like this? and he answered; I miss Cartagena a lot. I was very thoughtful and thought…. How special can that place that this man misses so much being in an interesting place like Cuba, so I wrote down the name in my notebook because it made me very curious.

A year later I thought about my next destination to travel, since I really like it and I have done it in many places, but I like to choose and feel at home in that place, and I remembered what happened in Cuba, so I looked for my notebook and I found the name of Cartagena - Colombia, wow! now I understand that colleague because this is my fifth year and I love coming ".
