Colombia It is the first place in Latin America that has the most fans in the world of cycling. In the last 5 years it has increased even more due to the sporting achievements we have obtained in the international competitions of the world elite such as the Tour de France, El Giro d'Italia, La Vuelta a España with exponents such as Egan Bernal, Nairo Quintana and Rigoberto Uran among the most prominent. Women are not far behind and we have the current Olympic BMX champion Mariana Pajón who has won two gold medals for our country. They are a source of pride for us and they are our heroes.

Our cities have been preparing for several years to create sports venues and spaces for this sport. This is how it has existed for more than 35 years in Bogota the bike path, where some of the main avenues are closed to vehicular traffic and open to walkers, people who want to run and ride their bikes to enjoy the city. There they sell natural juices, delicious fruits and there are specific points where you can stop to do aerobics, listen to music or simply take a good picture. This same model has been replicated in other cities in Colombia such as Medellín and Cali.

The topography of the country and its variety of climates make it a challenge for each person, although for beginners there are cities with preferential bike lanes on flat terrain, we can find that most are mountainous with heights ranging from 200 meters to sea level and moors that receive you with a 17% incline at a height of 3,200 meters above sea level. A real challenge. After a climb that leaves us breathless and with shaky legs, I can assure you that the reward of having fulfilled your own challenge and the gift of seeing wonderful landscapes are the best reward.

Today there are many groups of amateur road or mountain bike cyclists who meet on weekends to go exploring and have their own adventure. These groups are like a family and the idea is to play sports, be with your friends while enjoying nature. There are some tourism companies that, due to the boom in this sport in the country, are developing weekend plans, one or several days to get to know some urban and nature scenarios that are very close to our cities.

A city like Bogotá with 8 million inhabitants presents serious mobility problems and one of the solutions is to travel by car. bike. Nueva Lengua Like many educational establishments, they have adapted to this dynamic of change and currently have bicycle parking spaces as well as lend bicycles to students who want to join this mobility plan. The result has been quite positive and teachers, school administrative staff and several students use the city's bike paths to get to school. It is interesting how a means of transport such as the bicycle can positively change your work dynamics and routine. It is interesting how the city has also adapted and today has more than 100 km of bike paths.

Apart from doing a physical activity, the bicycle is one of the means where your intellectual productivity also goes out to roll. Those who ride a bike know that while you are pedaling you are thoughtful and many new ideas come to mind, personally it is a very productive moment that I take advantage of to organize my day and plan some things in the short and medium term.

You already know that if you visit our Spanish school in Bogota and you like cycling, there is an economical, ecological option to get around the city on two wheels. The school offers you a bike with a lock, a helmet and a good bike.
