I chose Nueva lengua Spanish School because I wanted to live in a city where there are people who can only speak Spanish. I was looking for schools in South America and I found Nueva Lengua In colombia. In this school you can switch between 3 cities in Colombia (Medellín, Bogotá and Cartagena) and live experiences in a Latin society. I chose the school in Cartagena because it is very hot there. The school is cool! Teachers know you by name and want you to learn. Teaching you is important to them and they want you to feel good. The number of students in each class is small, from 5 to 8 and sometimes less than 5. When I arrived in Cartagena, I didn't know any Spanish. After 3 months I was able to talk to the people of Colombia and I lived in a Spanish city, without the help of other people. What I can say is that I am a product of Nueva Lengua. The first two weeks were very difficult because I didn't know any Spanish and I needed a lot of help. The school was difficult and demanding because the teachers only spoke Spanish in the classes. However, I always felt good. Many students of the school came from Europe and America to study Spanish. Everyone came for the same goal and the students were of any age. Describing the feeling where everyone is open and ready to meet anyone is difficult. Which is exciting. It's similar when I started school, but my classmates were between 16-70 years old.
In a word: "Great"! Every week they have activities after school from Tuesday to Friday. The activities are anything between dance classes, Colombian cuisine, excursions in the city, the beaches and the islands. Because I was studying for my thesis, I didn't go to many activities. I didn't have enough free time to enjoy Cartagena. However, I had many Salsa classes and I will tell you that now, I can dance in the rumba places without making a fool of myself. My Colombian family was incredible and saying goodbye was very difficult. The family is large and the house also had a lot of space for many students. At one time, there were 8 students in the house. In the house there was only Spanish, which for me was very good because it forced me to study Spanish faster. Because of that, I think I could speak Spanish quickly. The house was very clean, the meals were good, and I felt great there. Of course, I will return to Cartagena one day to see my family who fed me for 3 months. So good people.
