marinilla is a town located 47 km east of the city of Medellin. She is recognized as "the Colombian Sparta" because in the process of Colombian independence the men of her land staged several important battles for the achievement of it.

Currently it is recognized as a cultural town and has nationally recognized events, such as the Religious Music Festival, which takes place during Holy Week. It is a fertile land of artists and guitars, and the origin of the latter dates back to 1898.

The name of Marinilla is "marinillos" and "marinillas", and it has an approximate population of 64.645 inhabitants. Its economy is based on agriculture, tourism and trade. The marinillos are nationally recognized for their great abilities for trade, and their bakery stores are found throughout the Colombian territory.

It is a municipality with a perfect location to visit: its average climate is 17°C; It has a good gastronomic offer, typical of the department of Antioquia; It is on the route to El Peñol and Guatapé, two very attractive municipalities for their tourist offer; and one of the most important facts: only 20 minutes from the José María Córdova de Medellín International Airport.
