The most important and famous event in Medellin is "Flower Fair" or the festival of flowers.

It is a massive celebration lasting 10 days and the city’s streets are hosting parades, events and shows where the main theme is: flowers.

The event is a showcase of the culture and values of the region Antioquia.

Two of the main activities during the fair are: the “Silleteros Parade” y "Arrieros Mules and Fondas".

The Desfile of Silleteros is a parade where men and women from Santa Elena (an area of Medellín) create beautiful “silletas” (flowers arrangements). The beauty of it is that they look like art craft (well, they actually are pieces of art!), and every year a specific theme is selected. Moreover, they are organized in different categories, for example: children’s, junior’s, traditional, emblematic, monumental, and commercial. All the silletas are ultimately judged, making it a proper competition.

With regard to the Arrieros Mulas y Fondas, this is an exibitions of little replicas of farmer’s houses and tavern from the region of Antioquia.

During this time, the city of Medellin fills up with tourists and locals having fun and celebrating the culture "paise".
