Perhaps one of the most popular tourist routes in the capital is to visit the Candelaria neighborhood. When you arrive at the place, the first thing you discover is the presence of hundreds of tourists who come to discover the most historic and representative neighborhood of the Colombian capital.

Here, it was where Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada arrived on August 6, 1538 in the company of his men to found a new city where the 'head' representative of the Spanish crown would stay.

With 12 straw huts and a church, Bacatá was created, the name given to the region by the Muisca Indians, inhabitants of the region.
Here, in the historic center, is the Plaza Mayor or Bolivar Plaza. Around this are the Congress of the Republic, the new Palace of Justice, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, the Primate Cathedral (seat of the Archbishop), the Chapel of the Tabernacle and the Archbishop's Palace.

BOTERO MUSEUM

Without a doubt, the most important and recognized Colombian artist in the world is Fernando Botero. His works reflect men, women, children, animals, objects and fruits with bulky bodies, in situations typical of Colombian culture.
His success and recognition is such that the artist himself wanted to donate part of his private collection, in addition to works made by himself so that a place would be opened where Colombians could appreciate different manifestations.
One of the clauses of the donation was that no donated work could be loaned or changed location after being posted. Therefore, the assembly of the works remains as is as Botero decided.
Of the donated works, 87 correspond to the personal collection of universal art. Among them are works by renowned artists such as Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Henri Matisse
As for the pieces created by the artist, visitors will be able to enjoy 123 pieces.
