Guaduas is one of the 18 towns declared National Heritage and an asset of cultural interest in Colombia; It is the closest heritage town to Bogotá and also has a warm climate that makes this town a very welcoming place. Guaduas It is located on the Ruta del Sol between Bogotá and Medellín and on the road that connects Bogotá with Mompox, Santa Marta and Cartagena.

It was the first stop on the old Camino Real between Honda and Santafé de Bogotá, the first Camino Real of New Granada, and which is said to have formed Colombia: the viceroys, the missionaries, the soldiers, Simón Bolívar and the community members passed through there. For centuries this road was the only communication between Bogotá and the Atlantic Ocean, connecting the capital with the Magdalena River in the town of Honda.

In Spanish school Nueva Lengua We want everyone, both locals and foreigners, to get to know deep Colombia as it really is: colorful, exciting, fun, and above all, beautiful. With this goal in mind, in Nueva Lengua We have organized a weekend tour leaving Bogotá, so that you dare to explore the country while visiting the capital.

Tour Nueva Lengua – Guaduas

As we said, Guaduas is a very representative municipality of Colombian culture. In its corners and its streets, the old stories of its colonial past, the royal roads and mansions are still preserved, among many other things that make Guaduas a very interesting place. Guaduas has an excellent climate for hiking and for visiting every corner of its towns.

The town also has a lot of vegetation, natural landscapes and extensive fruit crops of all kinds.

AIMA's weekend plan includes ecological walks, a historical tour, a tour of a coffee farm, rafting on the Negro de Tobia river, and two-night accommodation at the cabin Nueva Lengua in Guaduas, located in the Salto de Versalles natural reserve.

Our tour lasts three days and two nights, which will be distributed as follows:

Itinerary of the ecological tour in Guaduas

Day 1 – Travel from Bogotá to the town of Guaduas:

We will meet at the meeting point of your choice within the city, where a private vehicle will pick us up and take us to the Cabin in Guaduas de Nueva Lengua (Salto de Versalles nature reserve).

Day 2 - Tour of a traditional coffee farm, tour of the historic center of Guaduas, pool night:

On our first morning, we will visit the coffee farm. We will take the tour through the entire farm, visiting the coffee plantations and learning about the harvest and processing of the beans. We will enter the threshing, drying and grinding areas of the coffee. After the tour, we will enjoy a spectacular tasting of the coffee grown in the coffee plantation using different artisanal preparation methods. Finally, to close the activity, we will try the typical dish of coffee farmers: the stiff, a unique (and very large) preparation that integrates some of the main flavors of Colombian gastronomy within a banana leaf.

The day culminates with the historical tour of the colonial center of Villa de Guaduas. In its colonial museums we will immerse ourselves in the history of this town declared Historical and Cultural Heritage of Colombia.

Finally, to rest from the day's activities, we will return to the Salto de Versalles reserve to have dinner and enjoy the pool of our cabin.

Day 3 - Ecological walk to Piedra Capira:

We will have breakfast in the Salto de Versalles reserve, and then we will begin our tour of the beautiful and historic Camino Real de Honda, until you reach the Piedra Capira viewpoint. We will skirt the mountain through a path of fruit trees that crosses a diversity of climates and soils.

We will return to the reserve to enjoy a little more of the nature of the region through a walk to the Salto de Versalles waterfall, where the San Francisco, El Guadual and Limonar rivers join to form a drop of more than 20 meters. Tall. When they join together, the waters of these three rivers give life to the Negro de Tobia River, along whose banks we will walk bordering the high stones that limit it.

Before taking our way back to Bogotá, we will have lunch at the cabin as a farewell to our ecological immersion tour in Guaduas.
