There are many reasons to choose Colombia as your next destination, as it is one of the countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world, its streets are full of colors, there is adventure, wonderful beaches, moors, deserts, the Amazon jungle and many more things that They won't give you space to have a bad time.

In a previous article we told you about the 7 plans that no one can miss when visiting Bogotá. But this time we wanted to vary, and that is why we bring you 7 alternative, different plans that are outside the sphere of traditional tourism, and with which you will be able to see a different and fascinating face of the capital of Colombia.

  1. Perseverance Square:

Would you believe us if we told you that in Bogotá there is a place where you can try Colombian gastronomy in all its facets without having to move? Is about the square of perseverance! A wonderful place where you will find dishes from regions as varied as the Pacific, the Caribbean, the Coffee Region and the Altiplano Cundiboyacense. Best of all, the food is prepared by people native to the regions, so the original flavor of the recipes is always present.

Fruits, fruits and more fruits: that is what you will never lack in the Plaza. And if you go at noon, take advantage and ask for one of the traditional lunches, such as ajiaco Santafereño, the sancocho, the Bogota chupe, the changua, or the nickname for coastal cheese.

  1. Guatavita Lagoon:

Legend has it that the chiefs of the Muisca people dressed in precious jewels and jumped into the lagoon of a golden city, hidden among the mountains of the Andes. Lured by stories of an indigenous city made entirely of gold, the Spanish conquistadors searched for it for years, but never found it.

The cradle of the fascinating legend of El Dorado is found in the magical town of Guatavita, located just two hours from Bogotá. Come with us to discover this beautiful natural destination and discover the legend from within.

  1. Goat ride:

You cannot miss the beautiful view of the city at the La Calera viewpoint and live the experience of rumbear en una chiva: an unforgettable party on wheels in the best Colombian style.

  1. Soccer nights:

Bogotá has the Nemesio Camacho stadium, “el Campín”, the only one in Colombia to have hosted the finals of the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and a FIFA World Cup, as was the U-20 stadium that was played in the country in 2011. El Campín is the home of two of the most traditional and winning clubs in Colombia: Millonarios and Independiente Santa Fe. These teams play weekly in the stadium, and going to see them is definitely an experience that goes beyond sports: when we go with students from Nueva Lengua, we watch the game preview from a bar near the stadium, we try local beers, and we eat the traditional Bogota fritanga. Once inside the Campín, during the game, the team bars sing, jump and organize choreographies to cheer on their team.

  1. Bicitour:

According to recent data, Bogotá is the Latin American capital of cycling, and one of the top ten for lovers of this sport. Currently, the city has more than 500 kilometers of specialized bicycle lanes (also called Cycle Routes). In addition, every Sunday and public holiday Bogotá closes its main streets and avenues for cars, and opens them to bikes, skates and pedestrians who want to exercise, rest, or walk with their animals. This is called Ciclovía, and a couple of times a year the mayor's office also organizes it at night.

In order to take advantage of these routes, while getting to know the city in depth, here at Nueva Lengua we organize bicycle tours through the historic center of the city and traditional neighborhoods such as Candelaria and Quinta Camacho.

  1. Flea afternoon:

Sunday is the perfect day to go to the San Alejo market, located in the center of the city, or to the Usaquén square, to the north, to buy knick-knacks, antiques and Colombian handicrafts, and why not, enjoy theatrical shows! strays!

7. Volunteers:

Above all, in Nueva Lengua We are moved by love for Colombia and its people. We believe in transformation through work and dedication, and that is why we carry out volunteer activities in the grandparents' soup kitchen in a popular neighborhood in the center of the city, and with the street inhabitants of the Santafé neighborhood.
