Samuel and Melissa were two American students who spent their honeymoon in Colombia, learning Spanish in Nueva Lengua Cartagena. This experience has been very rewarding for them, which they describe: ''for our honeymoon, we chose to travel to the magical Cartagena, Colombia. We were not disappointed, the city is beautiful and rich in its history, architecture and population. But the best was our choice of Nueva Lengua for our intensive Spanish course''.

For two weeks in December 2021, Sam and Melissa came to this country for the first time, especially to Cartagena. During this time, they they studied spanish in our school, where they received a warm welcome from all the teachers and students. Their classes were very fun and meaningful, they describe their honeymoon at the school as a ''magical'' and ''enriching'' experience.

''With the skills learned in school during the first week, we could introduce ourselves to any Spanish speaker. This made it very easy and fun to get around the city'' (Sam and Melissa).

Every day, they attended their classes with great motivation, they learned not only the grammatical and lexical aspects of Spanish, but also the culture of the Caribbean and its gastronomy in the cooking classes, where they had the opportunity to learn about our typical food and make the best recipes. Likewise, they learned a little about our Colombian identity and its music in the dance classes. For Sam and Melissa, this was a space of great fun and learning, as they loved to dance and enjoy every activity at school.

''During the two weeks, all the brochures and good teaching were very helpful to us. We were able to practice writing, reading and speaking. It was clear that the school had a lot of experience teaching novice Spanish speakers like us. (Sam and Melissa).''

''The dance classes were beginner friendly and we were so glad we took them. We learned merengue, salsa, and bachata, and it was fun to watch our classmates dance too. Best of all, we were able to show off our dancing skills when we all went sailing at sunset.''

A night in the bay of Cartagena: the catamaran adventure

The bay of Cartagena is undoubtedly a tourist attraction where we can enjoy a beautiful sunset with the Colombian Caribbean breeze. At school Nueva Lengua we organize an amazing night on a catamaran, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We started with a Vinotinto toast at school in honor of Sam and Melissa's honeymoon, then we went to the bay, they wore the traditional white dress (pants, shirt and dress), later, we tasted the ''fritos '' typical of the Caribbean (carimañola, empanadas and quibbes that they provided us on the spot).

At 6:00 p.m. the colored lights came on with Colombian music (salsa, champeta, cumbia) at that moment Sam and Melissa opened the dance floor remembering all the knowledge acquired in the dance classes, we all accompanied them with palms and lots of joy, without a doubt it was a wonderful experience, where the newlyweds felt "at home" with the kindness of the people of Cartagena and the professionalism of our school. For us it is a satisfaction to accompany our students in their life experiences, especially in such a special stage as a honeymoon resulting from married love, expressing our feeling of empathy and service is our greatest gesture of generosity.
"First of all, it was very kind of you. Nueva Lengua give us this experience for our honeymoon, thank you very much! But the event itself was phenomenal.'' (Sam and Melissa).

If you want to live an experience like that of Sam and Melissa, do not hesitate to opt for our Nueva Lengua School, here you will find a family to grow, have fun and learn a lot, because for us serving is a joy.
