Muchos students and travelers arrive at Cartagena attracted by its climate and its beaches, but they never expect to find a culture as diverse and a people as warm as the people of the coast and Colombia. Something similar happened to our student william hahn who had never been to Latin America and decided this year to come to this side of the world and start his trip through Colombia and take the opportunity to improve his Spanish which he had already been learning in his country. From that experience William has left us the following testimony:

In a talk with my Spanish teacher, I told her that I was very interested in improving my Spanish and I also told her about my intention to travel to Latin America for the first time and without hesitation my teacher recommended that I start my trip in Colombia; He told me that the best Spanish in all of Latin America was spoken in Colombia.

I started planning my trip and looking for a recommended and reliable school; In all my searches I did on the internet I found very good comments from Nueva Lengua, but the other complement to my trip was missing, convincing my best friend Jessica to travel and study Spanish with me. I showed her all the information I got on the net and it was very easy to have her company for my trip.

When we arrived we found a new world, so different from my world: exotic customs, the colorful houses and streets, the friendly people and the heat throughout the day; made me think that it was a very good idea to get to Cartagena as the beginning of my contact with Latin America. We arrived to Bogotá, we traveled by bus to Medellin, we met Guatapé, then to Rincón del Mar in the department of Sucre and finally to Cartagena.

En Cartagena we started studying at school Nueva Lengua, where I had to make a great effort to understand and adapt to the accent of the teachers and the people of the Colombian Caribbean, different from the Spanish I had learned in Spain; but after a few days it was very easy to get in touch and find what I needed to improve my Spanish.

In a chat with my Spanish teacher, I told her that I was very interested in improve my spanish And I also told him about my intention to travel to Latin America for the first time and without hesitation my teacher recommended that I start my trip in Colombia; she told me that in Colombia they spoke the best

At school every day we had an extra-class cultural activity in the afternoon hours that brought us closer to understanding Colombian culture a little more and in the morning we would take classes. This enriching experience lasted for five weeks.

The nightlife of the city is incredible every day different dishes came out that included having dinner with my friend and other classmates and then enjoying a good bar or club, where we could practice what we learned in our dance classes.

It gave me great joy to see that my Spanish improved every day and I was able to understand and express myself much more fluently, now I am ready to continue my journey and discover all of Latin America. "
