Today we talk with Julia, a student who comes from Sweden and is going to tell us about her experience studying Spanish in Bogotá.
Tell me a little about yourself: where you are from, what your occupation or job is, what your hobbies are, what languages you speak...
My name is Julia, I am 22 years old. I am adopted from Colombia but I have lived in Sweden all my life. I work with electric car batteries in Sweden, a job I really like and I have done that for 3 years. I speak Swedish, English and a little Spanish now.
Why are you studing spanish?
As I said before, I am adopted from Colombia, that is why I want to learn more about the culture, customs and life in that country. I've been back and forth for a few years now and this time I planned to stay longer, to be immersed in the culture of where I come from.
I like Colombia and being here, especially in Bogotá, I like it a lot, I feel at home.
How long have you been studying in Nueva Lengua? How was your experience?
I have been at school for 6 weeks. Nueva Lengua in Bogota. I have learned a lot and I have improved my Spanish a lot too, with the group classes I have met people and I practice my Spanish with them.
Also, I have participated in the small trips that the school takes, we went to Zipaquirá with a group of other students and we saw the Salt Cathedral, which is impressive. We also went to Guaduas, it is an incredible place, with a lot of nature and a lot of fun, I think it is a good idea for a small weekend trip outside of Bogotá.
What is your opinion of the experience of studying Spanish in Bogotá?
I find it very interesting. There are many different people and different activities, you are never bored here. The accent is clear and you feel that your Spanish is progressing quickly.
What new things have you discovered during your time in Bogotá?
One of the things that I find the most fun are the parties in Bogotá. They are not like anything we have in Sweden or Europe. People have fun, they dance a lot and very freely, you can feel the emotions and the music at the Colombian parties. I love it!
Also, the food here is very good, I really like having lunch in restaurants and discovering new foods and flavors that are unique to Colombia.
The people in Colombia are super friendly and welcoming, everyone helps you and supports you when you need it. Do I feel like home here.
Would you invite other people to study Spanish in Bogotá?
Absolutely, I think it is a very cool experience that helps all people who want to learn Spanish and learn about Colombian culture in a city with many activities and things to do.

Study Spanish in Colombia with Nueva Lengua
Interculturality is a key element and a necessary experience in today's world. It is not only a feature, but also a tool that opens up unimaginable paths and perspectives for those brave enough to cross their own limits and explore what the world has to offer.
Traveling to the opposite side of the world was, of course, a difficult thing to do, but the possibilities and experiences it has given her will live within her for the rest of her life. It is not only about biological roots, but also about a life choice.
It was great to have Julia with us these weeks, and we hope to see her again very soon, here, in her second home. Thanks for everything, Julia!
