The city of eternal spring is the second name given to Medellin, and it is not in vain, because it is a city in which all year round we can see a natural wealth and spring greenery in all its surroundings.

August is the most special month to show the floral variety of the region in the famous Flower Fair, which this year will be from 2 to 11 of that month.

This party is for children, youth and adults, it offers activities to enjoy with the family and plans to share with friends, such as visiting the farms in Santa Elena, a district in which the tradition of the silletas was created - what used to be a means of transport. to reach the Andean peaks, today it is a decoration of large flowers, made by hand by the peasants who want to preserve the tradition–; with Nueva Lengua You can participate in this plan to see the process of creating the silletas and at the same time enjoy the aroma of the countryside and the freshness of the Antioquia mountains.

But this fair is much more than flowers; within its programming there is space for music, dance, gastronomy, handicrafts, among other things.

This is how you can attend concerts, the trova festival –sung, rhymed and improvised verses–, the nighttime cultural park where you can enjoy musical rhythms from Colombia and the world; There is also a zone that sounds, a musical space for the whole family.

If you are like some of the students of Nueva Lengua And you have little time, you can organize a group with your classmates and enjoy the Plaza de Flores, a space created to choose the best of the fair and put it together in the same place. This year we will have three zones: Parque Norte, Aeroparque Juan Pablo II and Ciudad del Río; Each one will have different dates and there you will see a summary of the entire fair: artistic settings, typical foods, handicrafts and, of course, flowers.

In addition, different streets such as Paseo Junín or Plaza Botero, will be filled with artists such as storytellers, painters, dancers and even living sculptures.

Many of these events are free and easily accessible, thanks to the city's integrated transportation system.

Every year, in the Santafé shopping center, you can visit the flower mat, a work of art made with live flowers, whose purpose, in addition to the enjoyment of all, is to sell them at the end of the month to help with financial resources to a foundation to kids.

And if you like rumba, you cannot miss a chiva tour, there you will live an experience full of joy, music and brandy, a typical liquor of our land.

As if that were not enough, in the Botanical Garden the exhibition "Orchids, flowers and crafts" is held; there you will see the majesty of the national flower: the orchid. This event is a variety of colors and aromas that will delight your senses. During the days of the exhibition, the Botanical Garden is closed to the public, since everything revolves around the event.

There are two great parades: one is that of Classic and Antique Cars, in which you can see different models of cars from different times, as if it were a traveling museum.

The second and most important parade is that of saddle holders: the living tradition of the flower growers of our mountains. An event in which families participate, mainly from the village of Santa Elena, to win the contest that rewards the best traditional, emblematic, monumental and commercial silleta. This event is the closing of the Flower Fair and this year it will take place on Sunday, August 11 at Avenida Regional. There, in addition to silletas, you will find dances, musical bands and troupes. Of course, it will be an event that you will attend Nueva Lengua.

If you come to Medellin in August, you're going to want to stay here.
