 Descending the Combeima Canyon

A few minutes from the center of Ibagué is the famous Combeima Canyon, a fantastic canyon formed by the river of the same name. In just 55 kilometers, the Canyon descends from 4.950 meters above sea level, in the Nevado del Tolima, to the warm lands of the Coello River valley, 600 meters above sea level.

We will start the tour from the school in a typical "Yip", a means of transport for the peasants of the area (these are the famous jeeps of the 50s-70s). Then we will arrive at a point where the canyon is crossed by cable car, to then hike down into the canyon and then up. On the tour we will also enjoy a delicious traditional lunch.

On this tour we will contemplate spectacular landscapes, fauna and flowers, and we will test our physical resistance as it is a medium-demand hike, which is totally worth it.

Hike to the La Plata Waterfall: one of the highest in Colombia

La Plata Waterfall is the highest in the department of Tolima: a majestic natural work, 490 meters high, that you will undoubtedly enjoy knowing.

The tour starts at the school Nueva Lengua – Ibagué; there we will take the typical “Yip” (Jeep), special for our adventure, and then we will start the walk to the beautiful waterfall.

During the walk we will have a break and drink a peasant lemonade. We will continue with our expedition to reach the La Plata waterfall, and enjoy its majesty and breathe fresh air.

Walk among the orchids: Colombia's national flower

The orchid (Cattleya trianae) is considered the national flower of Colombia, due to the large number of species of this flower that flourish throughout the Colombian territory.

The tour starts at the school Nueva Lengua – Ibagué, where we will take an urban bus and, after 15 minutes of travel, we will start this beautiful walk.

During the tour, you will be able to appreciate different species of flora and make sightings of the birds that live there.

On this tour we will have contact with nature, a few minutes from the urban area of ​​Ibagué.

Cultural concert: Tolima Conservatory.

The Conservatory is an old cloister, where one of the most important musical schools in Colombia is located: the Amina Melendro de Pulecio. Its construction, in a republican style, is the cradle and shelter of great artists of our country.
We will leave from school Nueva Lengua, in the center of the city, and we will walk a few blocks, to get to this great stage to be part of the scheduled concerts.

In reference to the music and folklore of Ibagué, we are going to visit the Museo Musical Mundo Sonoro, a unique exhibition of musical instruments, which invites us to explore a universe of shapes, aesthetics, and sounds from Colombia and the world.
