A few months ago, a French student arrived at our school with great personal, academic and professional aspirations. Her name is Laurin. Part of that process was to gain entry to an academic program in Spain, but she needed DELE certification in C1. The problem was that she had not studied Spanish before.

The first place where this adventure began was in Costa Rica, where he studied for a month. However, she felt it was very difficult because the Spanish spoken in Costa Rica is difficult to understand. Without hesitation, she decided to look for a place where it would be easier to understand the spoken language. In this search, she found the school Nueva Lengua in Bogota.

He started in our group classes for a month and a half, then switched to private classes to focus on DELE exam preparation. Really, it was very disciplined and constant work on the part of her and the teachers who supported her at all times. We not only work on grammar, but we also address important aspects such as pronunciation, interpretation, idiomatic expressions from different Spanish-speaking countries and, of course, simulations of the tasks that the test has.

In addition, we work on vocabulary on different current topics such as the environment, the world of work, sports, cooking, politics, among others. It was a total of three months of a lot of work inside and outside of school. After her classes, Laurin listened to podcasts in Spanish, she began to use the language throughout the day with her roommates, at the gym, in the supermarket, on the street, for most of the day. Definitely, she is an example of effort, commitment and discipline. As her teacher, I can say that I am very proud of her learning process and commitment.

Finally, he returned to France, took his test and a few days ago he wrote to me giving me the good news that he passed the DELE C1 exam. Although it was not easy, she was able to achieve it, which fills me with joy and pride.

The reason for sharing this story is so that you, as a Spanish student, do not lose motivation and discipline. Remember that each person carries out their own process; some need more or less time, some learn better from real activities, others from traditional education. For some it is easier to learn with songs or videos, for others with readings and grammar exercises. It doesn't matter what your learning method is or what your reasons are for learning Spanish; The most important thing is that you never give up or put aside your goals.

Always encourage yourself to take on new challenges and make big changes in your life. It doesn't matter that you start with small actions; These will become great habits and will transform your life.
