Hello beautiful people from all over the world! I am a Spanish teacher for foreigners in ColombiaSometimes in my classes, students ask me if I like Colombia… I answer them… I love Colombia! Well -And how is Colombia… Why do people from all over the world say that it is one of the most beautiful countries they have visited? Let's see a brief description of Colombia through its geography:

Colombia It is located in the extreme north-west of South America and shares borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. It is the fourth largest country in South America, after Brazil, Argentina and Peru. It has coasts in the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The Colombian territory is divided into a mountainous region to the west and a flat region to the east. So we can say that Colombia is divided into two large areas: an area with mountains and another without mountains. Within these two zones we have five natural regions:

The first region is called: "The Amazon Region"

Beautiful image of the Colombian Amazon

In this region you find pure jungle, there are no roads and to be able to move in this region you need to travel by plane. There are many indigenous tribes and all kinds of animals. Throughout Colombia there are natural parks, which are areas protected by the government. If you want to be in contact with the jungle and animals, this is the ideal place. The main natural park is called "Amacayacu" and you can get all the information to visit this place in: "Natural Parks of Colombia".

The second region is called: "The Pacific Region"

Exuberant nature of the Colombian Pacific

In this region you will also be able to be in contact with nature and the Pacific Ocean, whose name means "calm sea". This region is one of the rainiest regions in the world. For this reason you will find a great diversity of animals and nature. The people of the region are very friendly. Nearby you can find an island called "Gorgona", where the whales go to have their babies, at a certain time of year. You can also find information in “Natural Parks of Colombia.

The third Region is called: "The Caribbean Coast"

The imposing and historic Caribbean Coast.

The Caribbean Coast is a spectacular and tourist place, where you will find a park on the edge of the sea, with the snowiest mountain closest to the sea in the world ... It is the "Tayrona Park". There you will find many types of birds and the most beautiful beach in America; if you like camping it is an ideal place. In this region you will find historical and cosmopolitan cities like Cartagena. Cartagena is a city with a lot of colonial history and its streets are very romantic, in addition there is a lot of night activity. So if you want to have fun, you know ...

The fourth region is the "Llanos"

Beautiful landscapes and dazzling sunsets in the eastern Colombian plains.

This region is characterized because there are no mountains and it is an ideal place to herd cattle. It is a cowboy territory where the horizon meets the land. If you like meat, horseback riding and sunsets, this is the perfect place.

The fifth region is: "The Andean Region"

Mountainous and forested areas of the Andean region of Colombia

The Andean Region is the economically speaking the most important region in Colombia. There you find the main cities of the country such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and many others. This region is characterized because it has all climates from very hot to very cold in the great heights of the mountains. There are lovely landscapes and forests. Its main tourist sites from south to north are: San Agustín Park with mysterious sculptures. The Macarena park with the river of seven colors. The spectacular salt mines of Zipaquira. The Guatavita Lagoon where the "Leyenda del Dorado" was born. Villa de Leyva one of the most preserved colonial towns. The spectacular “Cañon del Chicamocha”, the coffee axis, the epicenter of the smoothest coffee in the world and the incredible coffee park.

This is a short tour of one of the most charming countries in the world, but certainly the greatest attraction of Colombia is its people. So this is an invitation for you to visit us and have a cup of coffee. With Nueva Lengua you will be able to explore Colombia.
