Would you like to learn Spanish and do you have the heart to donate your time helping other people?
Colombia, in addition to offering you the perfect setting for an experience of volunteer jobs., offers you the most beloved Spanish accent and the smiles of many people who will be happy and grateful for your help as a volunteer!
Having a volunteer experience is a very useful experience for to learn Spanish! If you think about it, you have the opportunity to study at school in the morning and at night to be in contact with native speakers who will speak to you all the time in Spanish. Thanks to this total immersion in Colombian culture, your Spanish will improve every day!
But what volunteer projects can you do in Colombia with a Spanish course and Volunteering Nueva Lengua?
The options are different and the choice depends on you, your interests, your passions and your availability.
Every month all of our students have the opportunity to donate their time during one of our activities which is always very successful.
In Bogotá they can help in a soup kitchen for children or “grandparents” (grandparents) serving lunch and giving lots of smiles. Watch this video, what a great experience it was, last Christmas, sharing a bit of our time with them.
In Medellín, on the other hand, every two weeks our students go to Comuna 13 to play soccer with the children and the joy that is lived here is a truly unique experience, you can see how much joy in this video, where Jenni, the project manager , also explains what it is about!
Another great volunteer experience, also in Medellin, is with the Cultivating Smiles Association, where 20 girls welcome our students with smiles and joy, filling them with questions! This is a good opportunity to practice Spanish, and they, the girls, will make you talk a lot!!
Finally in Cartagena our students become teachers for a day! In fact, the volunteer program foresees that the children of the Getsemanì neighborhood, where our Spanish school is located, go to the school to meet our students who will help them learn English. Don't worry, you don't need experience as a teacher, they will be happy just knowing where you come from!!
