Colombia is a country with a deep-rooted Catholic tradition, for this reason the religious significance of the Christmas holidays is very important and special for Colombian families.
In addition to the religious significance that Christmas parties have, many Colombians love Christmas parties because at that time they can share more with family and friends. Also for our school Nueva LenguaChristmas has a very special meaning, because we can share with our students a bit of Colombian culture. Also, we can enjoy in the company of our students events as significant as the novena, the delivery of gifts to grandparents with limited resources, typical Christmas recipes and much more, which unites us as a great family.
En Nueva Lengua We start Christmas from December 1, decorating the school with teachers and students. Afterwards, we make wishes on the traditional night of the candles on December 7th.
On December 16 we begin the novena, where we give thanks for the blessings received during the year, pray, sing Christmas carols and enjoy delicious Christmas food.
On December 22, we visit the grandparents in the dining room where we do social work, we share a delicious lunch and deliver gifts.
Although we do not share the night of December 24 and 25 together because each person is at home with their family, at the school we wish the students, teachers and administrators a Merry Christmas with a big hug.
Actually, Christmas in Colombia is wonderful. To also enjoy that time of hope, love and joy with us, we are waiting for you in Colombia in the month of December. For us it is a special date, that is why we wish everyone a Christmas!
