My fourth week in Bogotá (which is also my third week) and last! I really want to walk and see a bit of nature. The hike to La Chorrera waterfall was a good opportunity to go back a bit to the days of hiking and trekking in the mountains.

I got up early on Saturday morning, took the Transmilenio bus to school and off we went. Turns out the trip to the waterfall was almost as beautiful as the waterfall itself. We drive along the hills of Bogotá, with a better point of view than Montserrate! Then we go through the “permo” fields that people mention endlessly) but it is really beautiful there is nothing to say (and the picturesque farm “Phoenix”),

Until we reach our destination.

The hike was awesome and of course the waterfall too, but I must admit the waterfall was not the highlight of the trip. The highlight was later when we sat together for lunch; We talk, we tell stories, we talk about each other. Some decided to go rappelling, while me and some other friends swam under one of the waterfalls. If, like me, you're a fan of cold water, it's worth going for that alone.

In the end, the Cascada Chourrera is not a well-known waterfall. It is difficult to get there without a private car and it is not mentioned in tourist guides or blogs. This is exactly the type of hike that most backpackers (including me) would have skipped if they had heard of it.
