This city was founded in 1533 by a man named Peter of HerediaAt that time a lot of gold, emeralds and other things were exported, this city was also a very important commercial port, so pirates and corsairs from Europe attacked the city, and that was not the only attack, Cartagena de Indias suffered different attacks so kilometers and kilometers of walls and forts were built around the city that are today of great tourist interest

Now we are going to travel back in time to the year 1811, which was when this city dared to confront the great Spanish empire to win its independence, and although all these fights, battles, victories and defeats lasted many years, they say that about ten more or less, finally the cartageneros achieved absolute independence from Spain.
