Jochen made an important decision a few months ago: the decision to share his passion for Spanish with Nueva Lengua after having studied with applications on his cell phone and some texts on the internet.

While in Bremen, his hometown in Germany, one day he decided to buy a ticket and dedicate himself to improving the language with a greater projection of the current world, and with the illusion of “studying”. Yes, "study" in quotes.

Like many students, Jochen thought she would study Spanish. But little did he know of the method of his future school, the warmth of the people of Colombia, and the possibilities of absorbing a culture with great sensitivity to interpersonal relationships.

The day came and with his backpack full of dreams he began his journey to the land of flowers. when she got to Medellin His mentality began to change quickly when he found a punctual, respectful driver with a lot of geographic and socio-cultural information.

Later, in his homestay, met his Colombian mother and brother who immediately opened their doors and hearts. A family, a comfortable place and good food gave her a boost of tranquility that exceeded her expectations.

She started the week of classes at school and discovered that her teachers were another part of the family. He learned the vocabulary, pronunciation and uses of each topic in the language in a communicative and natural way. The teachers always encouraged him to use Spanish in all everyday situations.

Over time he developed a routine, both at school and outside of it. He can now use what he learned formally and informally. Understand the difference between "ordering" a beer and "asking" if there are empanadas. Knows when and how to "invite" or "make a cow." He also knows how to "haggle" without being "stingy." He knows how to express his opinions with respect, he knows how to suggest. He knows that "perform" is not "to realize." He knows how to ask "How are you?" in 5 different ways, and you also know more different "right or wrong" answers.

Every day you visit different historical places, but understand that the history of a country is built by its people. From time to time you have trouble expressing some things to the doctor, but you learned that you don't need to know all the words, just know how to ask. At the bank, he knows very well how to use numbers, but he also knows that with his kindness he can liven up a stressful teller's day.

In conclusion, Jochen learned that Colombia is not Germany, and that contact is a natural act in the communication of Latin Americans. All this he knew because from day one, his teacher in Nueva Lengua It taught him that he had not come here to study, but to practice.

Every day Jochen studies at home and practices at school, at the bar, at the restaurant, at the museum, at the bank. One of his favorite activities is to participate in the volunteering you offer Nueva Lengua en “CULTIVATING SMILES”. A house that helps girls between 6 months and 17 years old in difficult situations. Until now, she continues to enjoy the end of her days with a cold beer.

Adaptation is a very important element in effective learning, and that is why the best place to have an experience like this is Nueva Lengua. Come and live your day to day with the support of very creative teachers!
