Thanks to the Spanish program offered by Nueva Lengua, Christina was able to improve her level of Spanish to complement her studies in translation, since she considers her profession as a tool in which it is possible to link two cultures, understanding the linguistic richness that each one has to offer. In addition, the immersion activities offered by the school allowed her to satisfy her two passions: history and gastronomy.
Finally, and with a lot of nostalgia, Christina returned to Germany to continue her studies, but not before thanking her for all the lessons she had learned during her stay in Bogotá and mentioned that she would love to return soon. Christina is a translation student at a school in Bavaria, in the southeast of Germany. During her stay in Nueva Lengua She told us that throughout her life she has loved the Spanish language and that is why she decided to study it.
Your entry into Spanish
Christina's path towards Spanish proficiency began with a cultural immersion in Spain, given the proximity of this country to her place of origin. She recounts that, although her experience was very enriching, she felt that she had to broaden her linguistic horizons through a new culture. That was how she decided to come to Colombia to continue her Spanish studies.
Why study Spanish in Colombia?
Before coming to study Nueva Lengua, Christina did not know Colombia and chose this destination mainly because she had read about the cultural, historical and gastronomic richness of the country.
In addition, since she learned about the Bogotá accent, she was fascinated by its good rhythm and clarity: "It was much easier for me to understand than other accents in the region."
Upon arriving in the city and the school, she immediately felt welcomed, not only by the teachers — whom she describes as “very professional and kind people” — but also by her classmates at school, with whom she had the opportunity to exchange experiences. and very funny moments.
A foreigner living in Bogotá
Regarding her experience in Bogotá, Christina says that she adapted very well to the city. She enjoyed the fact that it is a place with many activities and places to meet, so for her it was having the opportunity to learn something new every day, even outside of the classroom.
